Michelin Guide 2024: 8 new restaurants join Passion Dessert
On Monday March 18, 2024, 2,000 guests (including nearly 700 Michelin-starred chefs) gathered at the Palais des Congrès in Tours to hear which restaurants had won 2024’s Michelin stars and Special Awards.
At the prestigious annual "Cérémonie des Etoiles", eight outstanding establishments were awarded the Passion Dessert title. This prize is an opportunity for Valrhona and the Michelin Guide to shine a spotlight on France's most talented restaurant-based pastry chefs who have excelled in creating plated desserts.
Passion Dessert: celebrating ethical practice and pastry-making talent since 2019
While the Michelin Guide has been honoring chefs for decades, it wasn't until 2019 that the famous red book shone a spotlight on pastry chefs who make a significant contribution to the gastronomic experience.
The Passion Dessert title, launched in partnership with Valrhona, recognizes the work of dessert specialists of all ages who are paving the way for inventive and ethical pastry-making and offering their customers unique experiences.
Passion Dessert 2024 unveils this year’s masterpieces
For the award’s sixth year, Michelin Guide inspectors scoured France in search of exceptional plated desserts. Selection criteria were based on taste, originality, creativity, suppliers' production conditions, impact on consumer health, seasonality and respect for the environment.
