To upgrade waste: Valrhona is committed to reducing its ultimate waste, i.e. waste which cannot be upgraded by recycling or by energetic upgrading. To do so, Valrhona has increased and extended waste sorting and has improved their infallibility. As a result, the company has reduced its waste by 12% since 2005.Valrhona is also committed to producing products in its plantations that respect the environment: running a plantation in Venezuela and putting to use its exceptional knowledge of the cocoa culture. On its plantation, Valrhona has reinstated a threatened cocoa species: “Porcelana”, a variety of criollo, which is treated with carefully measured doses of pesticide through the use of Organic Agriculture-based techniques (composting, insect traps, etc.)To reduce our water consumption and discharge:Valrhona is committed to reducing its drilling water consumption. Since 2005 drilling water consumption has been reduced by 22%.UTo use modest and clean technologies:Valrhona implements technologies that are in harmony with sustainable development in the projects it manages and runs.
